Hi- I have a top-site-list @ http://topoftheclass.top-site-list.com/ and I have some questions about voting. Is there a way to make my site always stay at the top of the list since I am the creator/moderator? I know some other top sites have that feature.
Also, is there a "no cheat" system or something? I know at other top site lists cheating isn't allowed (clicking over and over on a site to boost rating), how does this site manage cheating?
TIA

Hi Vanna,

Nice list. Thanks for your questions.

Voting security is a major concern, as a list is only as good as it's anti-cheat technology. So, we have created a multi-layer voting security system that helps to keep lists honest. This includes sophisticated software analysis and manual review. If you have any specific concerns you can contact me via private message. List owners have no direct control over vote or hits counts, although in the future we may provide a reset option.

As far as making sure that your site and other interests get their prime visibility on your list, this is where the Portal custom areas, especially the Welcome Module, can come in handy. Place your banner or links front and center by placing desired HTML at the end of the Welcome Module, or add any links or small banners you need to the Custom Module, that appears in the left-hand column.

One suggestion, you might want to set your Site name (in General Config), it's currently blank. Setting this can help visitors and members find your site thru search engines, if you include relevant terms to your topic, like "Top of Class" would make sense here. Noticed this value had been cleared and wondered if this was a bug or intentional...?

No, not a bug with the site name in genral config., I just thought it looked cheesy with plain text next to my cute banner, but I see your point and have added it. Very Happy

So you're saying I should put my site banner in my welcome module?

Please bear with me here, I'm totally self taught and there are a lot of gaps in my *techy* knowledge.

BTW, can you recommend a good site out there with simple codes? I want to center the image in my welcome module, but don't know the code.

Thanks again!

Ah, I see. One possible solution for you is to find another Style that doesn't display the list name in text. We've got hundreds of different Styles to pick from, so hopefully you can find something that meets your needs.

Selecting Styles for your List

So you're saying I should put my site banner in my welcome module?

For example, you might create a smaller banner and upload it using our upload feature. Then in the Welcome Module, you can add that banner and some text indicating that your list is proudly sponsored by "Pre-KPages". This would ensure high visibility for your site, no matter how high it ranks in the list.

BTW, can you recommend a good site out there with simple codes? I want to center the image in my welcome module, but don't know the code.

We will add a list of useful HTML commands soon, but I think you are looking the center tag:

<center>Some stuff to center</center>
