How do we reset the topsite votes. Is there anyway you can reset them on a monthly basis or is this just an ongoing process. I wish I would have noticed this before I signed up. Now I got members and I can't reset the votes for a month to month basis.

Hi gailmm, this is the first request for a vote reset, but it's been on my to do list.

I could probably do a manual reset for now, if you give me your list URL.

We could probably have a manual reset in the admin panel pretty soon, and then add the scheduling and such in a second phase.

Its ok for now, I just started but it is something that I have on all my other topsites. I have 3 others. This one I like alot but I would like to have the ability to reset on a monthly basis, but I did notify the small members who have joined. wow I started yesterday and already have 14 members. I love topsites. Do you or will you offer adfree, so I can run my own ads.

I've added a Reset feature just for you! Wink

If you visit your admin panel at List Admin -> Reset Votes you will be able to manually reset all member votes to zero.

Before erasing a members vote count, I'm adding it to a new "votes ever" field so that the historical vote tally isn't lost. I'm not using this new field yet, but plan to provide an option to display it along with the "Votes" and "Hits" columns in your list.

Also using this feature at the moment will cause you to lose position in the Top 100 Lists ranking...

http://www.top-site-list.com/toplists.php

But, I'll eventually be utilizing the new "votes ever" field to prevent that loss of position when the reset feature is used.

Also we may eventually offer scheduled resets. There is also the possibility that we will offer some type of ad-free page views in the future.

Any chance on a manual vote count option as well? Like if a member accidently deleted their account and you want to give them back their votes when they rejoin?

Knarrly, certainly it's technically possible. I've intentionally left this particular ability out so far.

Regular members can't delete their account, so what is the situation here more specifically?

I don't actually need this option quite yet. But when I had the other list at Jarvis I had needed it. But, also, I wasn't aware that members could not delete their own accounts, so that sort of solves the problem.

No scheduled auto-reset yet, but I've virtually completed the voting reset logic.

You can reset your list votes, but all-time counts will also be stored and displayed. And at any time you can even undo the vote reset and restore the full vote counts once again.

Also your vote totals stats for your list and placement in the Top 100 Lists will be not be hurt by using the vote reset.
